Since many years I collect handbags. Simply adore them and are truly grateful to own them. The special thing about it is that even if a bag is 15 years old it is still a treasure. Most of it due to quality but also affection. Each and everyone comes with a memory. Either how it was given to me, or bought by me. I may also recollect tons of fun anecdotes for occasions when I carried it. Such joy! I have a lovely daughter and she is constantly asking if she will get the bags when I get old... I tell her that I will be around for quite some time still...
Have a look at the wonderful pictures of the Gucci company and family below. It was founded in Florens, Italy 1906, making saddles, and then started selling bags around 1920. I sometimes get into conversations with people nurturing the opinion that it doesn't matter if a bag is authentic or a fake. When holding the real thing, feeling the quality and seeing the craftsmanship, I'd say they couldn't be more wrong. It's a heritage thing. Someone very skilled & proud crafted that bag and it comes with a history whether is Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton or other. And it ages beautifully. If you like some gossip about the family and the intrigues surrounding them you can read The Gucci Wars by Jenny Gucci, once married to Paul Gucci. Quite interesting.
